What Makes Music, Music?

I've been writing music for a little over a year now, I haven't published anything yet though. But every time I pick up my pen to write a new song, sometimes I wonder. What makes music, music? Anyone and everyone can throw some words on a piece of paper and call it a day, but what makes song writers and musicians so different from the average person?

The answer? Nothing. We aren't different, special, we weren't given some special form of super powers that make us able to create music from thin air. Anyone could be a songwriter if they tried and wanted to. What does make us different, is the passion we have, the need to create, to share stories in the only way we know how- through art, specifically music. I am under the firm belief that the only thing that sets apart songwriters from everyone else is their passion. And passion, is an amazing thing to have.
